Farmer’s Market on the Stetson Green
Farmer’s Market this Sunday
Hatter Harvest is hosting its 2nd Farmer’s Market this weekend! The event will be taking place this Sunday, March 19th on the Stetson Green from 12-4pm. The Farmer’s Market will include a number of different types of vendors, so come and check it out.
Hatter Harvest is a student-led club founded in 2009 at Stetson. Its vision is to bring sustainable food to campus and raise awareness about alternative agriculture systems and healthy lifestyles. The Hatter Harvest maintains a garden on campus adjacent to the Rinker Environmental LearningCenter.
The Farmers’ Market is based on the international “Slow Food” movement founded by Carlo Petrini in 1986. Promoted as an alternative to fast food, it strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and encourages farming of plants, seeds and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem.
Students, faculty, and members of the Deland community all came out to last month’s Farmer’s Market, so join them on Sunday and help promote locally-based food, music, and fun.
